Mumbai: Actor-comedian-filmmaker Vir Das has found his next directorial venture -- the found-footage horror film "Baara Number", set to go on floors in June.
Das, who made his directorial debut earlier this year with the spy comedy "Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos", will once again collaborate with co-director Kavi Shastri on the project, a press release said.
"Baara Number" is positioned as a found-footage horror narrative that aims to go beyond conventional genre tropes, weaving psychological depth with atmospheric storytelling.
Found-footage horror is a genre popularised globally by films such as "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity". In such movies, the narrative presents events through the lens of cameras and takes the form of a raw, documentary-like quality that heightens suspense and realism.
The film, which has been in development for some time, is said to explore both external tension and internal human emotions.
Das, known for featuring in movies such as "Delhi Belly", "Go Goa Gone" and series "Call Me Bae", will also appear in the film as part of a multi-character ensemble cast. He will produce through his banner Zazu Productions.
The initial shooting schedule is planned in Mumbai.
"Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos", produced under Aamir Khan Productions, released theatrically in January this year and featured Das alongside Mona Singh, Mithila Palkar and Sharib Hashmi, among others.
