Vidya Balan’s much-anticipated ‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’ earned Rs. 16.50 crores nett at the box-office in its opening weekend. The collections are on the lower side and much more was expected from the thriller. It would be extremely important for the film to hold well on Monday, something that looks unlikely as another film which catered to the same set of audiences, ‘Dear Zindagi’, had also witnessed a drop on Monday, reported boxofficeindia.com.

‘Kahaani’ which released in 2012, had collected Rs. 13.36 crore in its opening weekend but the word-of-mouth had helped the film in becoming a big success at the box-office. That seems unlikely to happen with the sequel as the critics as well as audience reactions have been mixed.

‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’ is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and the film also stars Arjun Rampal among others.
