Best known to Bollywood audiences for his debut alongside Sushmita Sen in Dastak, Mukul Dev was a versatile actor who also made a significant mark in Telugu cinema. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Jakka in Ravi Teja's hit film Krishna, and went on to appear in a number of Telugu films, often portraying complex, negative characters. His notable Telugu credits include Ek Niranjan, Siddham, Kedi, Adhurs, Bejawada, Money Money More Money, Nippu, and Bhai.
After Bhai, he stepped away from Telugu films to focus on projects in other languages. He remained active in Hindi cinema and was last seen in the 2022 film Anth: The End. Mukul also ventured into English-language cinema during his career.
Mukul Dev was the younger brother of actor Rahul Dev and was known for his dignified presence both on and off the screen. Following the passing of his parents, he reportedly went through a period of deep depression and became reclusive.
His final project was reportedly Son of Sardaar 2, which he had recently completed filming.
