Reports about Drishyam 3 film producer Kumar Mangat Pathak sending a legal notice to actor Akshaye Khanna for allegedly breach of agreement, as he had opted out of the film, are currently circling on various media platforms.

It is said that the actor who has become quite popular as Rehman Dakait in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar had opted out of the film through a text message, prompting the producer to send a legal notice.
According to the producer, work on Drishyam 3 was in the making for the past two years, and the actor had also expressed his approval for the third version of the franchise. The signing amount was also paid and accepted by Khanna, which was said to be higher than what he was paid for Drishyam 2. It is also said that he insisted on changing his looks, but the makers cited continuity issues, which he finally relented. However, the actor sent a message stating that he would not be doing the film and thereafter stopped responding to calls and messages before the release of Dhurandhar, and has gone incommunicado.
Reports state that they have chosen The Family Man actor Jaideep Ahlawat in place of Akshaye Khanna, and he will start shooting from January 2026.
Meanwhile, the shooting of the original Malayalam version of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 is completed, and the expected release date could be in April 2026. However, an official confirmation is awaited. It is significant to note that Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 is slated for release on October 2, 2026, and the announcement was made last week without Akshaye Khanna’s name or visuals in the teaser.
