KCR Signed Telangana’s Death Warrant: CM Revanth Blasts BRS for Ceding Water Rights to Andhra

Hyderabad: In a blistering attack on the BRS leadership, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy told the State Assembly on Saturday that former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had effectively signed a "death warrant" for Telangana's water rights by agreeing to a meager 299 TMC allocation of Krishna river water.

Reddy alleged that KCR’s signature on the controversial agreement has become a "potent weapon" in the hands of the Andhra Pradesh government, allowing them to legally corner Telangana in ongoing disputes. "Instead of fighting the incorrect data submitted by the then Kiran Kumar Reddy government, KCR endorsed it," Revanth charged, implicating former minister T. Harish Rao in the "betrayal" as well.

The Chief Minister presented a stark contrast in numbers: while KCR accepted 299 TMC, Reddy argued that based on the river basin, Telangana is entitled to 550 TMC. Even based on existing projects and pre-bifurcation earmarks, the share should have been 490 TMC. "Because of this surrender, AP is now avoiding the tribunal, happy with the surplus water they secured through BRS's negligence," Reddy stated, vowing to reclaim the state's rightful share based strictly on basin parameters.
