KM Mani rejects demand to convene high-power meet
He added that there was no evidence of him demanding money or accepting bribe
Kottayam: All is not well in the Kerala Congress (M) for its chairman K.M. Mani with a strong demand being raised by a section to convene a meeting of the high-power committee to discuss the Vigilance court order on the bar bribery case.
Mr Mani brushed aside the demand raised by Mr P.C. Joseph, former MLA and high-power committee member, and said there was no need to convene it now.
Mr Mani told reporters at Pala on Friday, “the high- power committee is convened to discuss current issues as per the needs. There is no such emergency now,” he said. He added that there was no evidence of him demanding money or accepting bribe.
Mr P.C. Joseph demanded a meeting of the committee in the context of the order of the Vigilance court that there was prima facie evidence of Mr Mani accepting bribe in the bar case.
He also sought action against Mr Mani and said that if he had resigned when the allegation was first raised, the crisis could have been averted.
