Mysuru: Slamming the opposition for embarking on ‘padayatra politics’ just before the monsoon session of the legislature, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said leaders like Jagadish Shettar of BJP and H.D. Kumaraswmay of JD(S) were doing it for political gain.

Speaking to reporters after offering bagina to Kapila river on Sunday, Mr Siddaramaiah wondered about the impact of padayatras saying he himself had demanded a CBI inquiry into the mining scam and took out a padayatra but nothing happened. “We have handed over six cases to the CBI in the past two years,” he said. With good rains in Wayanad, Kerala, the Kabini reservoir has reached the optimum level of 2284 feet in June itself for the first time in 12 years. The water level at KRS dam too has crossed 100 feet, and stood at 101.25 feet.
