Director Srikanth Addala avoids vulgarity, double-meaning dialogues, drinking and smoking in his films, which are always inspired by reality

Srikanth Addala who paved the way for multi-starrers with Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu in 2013 with two big stars Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh; released his film Mukunda a few days back.  Despite having directed big stars and delivered two blockbusters, Srikanth Addala is a very humble man, who still uses a two-wheeler. “I like to remain simple,” he says.

The director’s films follow a code of conduct. “The medium of cinema is very powerful and the impact is huge. When I make a film, I try to show a few good things and also stay close to the reality. Only when we make films about  incidents that happen around us, will people think about them. I know it takes time, but I always stick to my ethics,” says Srikanth. The director has avoided showing alcohol, cigarette smoking and  other vices in his films.

In his recent film Mukunda, the lead pair Pooja Hegde and Varun Tej don’t even talk to each other. “If you see today’s world, many youngsters who fall in love talk for hours and hours,  in the end we don’t know whether they are what they seem to be. But if you look at the past, two people who don’t know each other happen to get married and manage to live together for many years. So with that inspiration, I have made a different  love story,” he says.

He adds that in his film, many   scenes are taken from  real-life incidents that happened around him. “I come from a village called Relangi, near Thanuku. I observed many people and I wanted to cast them in my film,” said Srikanth.

Dasari Narayana Rao is a big inspiration for him. “Most of Dasari’s films reflect society, relate to middle-class families and their problems. I too choose social subjects,” he says. That’s  the reason all his films focus on  family values and  bonding.

When asked about his upcoming film Brahmotsavam, where he is directing Mahesh Babu, he says that he is still working on  the subject, and that the producers will  announce  the details. “I can’t say anything about the film.” But he promises that the film is a family entertainer. When asked if he is   planning to do another multi-starrer, he says, “Yes. After my next film, I am definitely planning  on doing a multi-starrer.”
