Hyderabad: Tennis ace Sania Mirza and badminton super coach Pullela Gopichand have come together to work for the betterment of under-privileged children. The pair have been signed on as the Hyderabad brand ambassadors for the Magic Bus Foundation, a children’s charity organisation.

Speaking about his involvement with the Foundation, Gopi says: “It is an excellent initiative through which children can transform their lives through sports. I’ve personally seen it happen. Many people around me, including those I coach, have turned their lives around through sports.”

“I had seen quite a few of its (Magic Bus Foundation’s) presentations earlier. I was quite impressed with the work they do. Sania and I met on common platforms on a few occasions and we decided to go ahead with this,” he adds.

Meanwhile, Sania sees this as a true opportunity to tap into India’s, and the city’s, rich reservoir of potential.  She says, “We can become a true sporting nation only when every child of our country gets an opportunity to play a sport.”
