Nellore: Telugu Desam leaders are unable to comprehend the domination of former Congress leaders in the party. TD had welcomed the entry of Congress leaders into its fold before the election since the existing TD leaders were financially weak being out of power for over a decade and spending capacity is most important factor to win the election. Those migrated into the TD from Congress include senior leaders Mr Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Mr Polamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy and Mr M. Sreedharkrishna Reddy. Hundreds of their followers, who were second rung leaders in Congress, also joined them.

According to information, former Congress leaders Polamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, M. Sreedharkrishna Reddy and Adala Prabhakar Reddy have been calling shots in Kovur, Nellore city and Nellore rural assembly segments much to the heartburning of old guard in TD. What irks the TD leaders is that they have to knock the doors of these leaders to seek recommendation letter for the transfer of government employees approaching them.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has delegated the power to the legislators and constituency in-charges in their respective jurisdictions. The move led to some differences among the constituency in-charges, who migrated from Congress, and the existing TD men. In the olden days, when the TD was in power, TD senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy used to be on hand for the party men to deal with the transfer issues. His defeat in the election and ministerial berth to Narayana changed the situation now.

As per the CM’s direction Mr Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy’s recommendation will be effective only to his Surveypalli constituency. Not only Mr Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy even Adala Prabhakar Reddy, who contested unsuccessfully for Nellore parliament seat and eager to have a say in seven Assembly segments, was also forced to confine to Nellore rural constituency as per the policy. A senior party leader said that the TD men have been approaching Mr Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy to recommend their cases with a hope that he will take care of their interest. He said that TD district unit president Beeda Ravichandra has been playing a role in sorting out the issues related to transfers between the leaders. The source also said that officers are entertaining the recommendation of Mr Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
