Alappuzha: Giving a new meaning to the tradition of Easter eggs, Asad Khan, a UK resident, originally from Kerala, has created the world's first Easter egg for Hindus. Vishneaster Egg combines the Kerala agricultural festival of Vishu and the Christian festival of Easter, and is said to be quite popular with Hindus and Christians in the UK.

The Vishneaster Egg is made with curry flavoured chocolate and inside the shell are tiny scrolls containing sacred texts from the Vedas the ancient Hindu scriptures and the Bible.
Asad Khan's invention was reported in several regional newspapers in the UK on Friday.
Mr Khan, who runs a restaurant called India Dining in Warlingham says in the report that his confectionary was developed in order to make the traditional Western egg a more inclusive, inter religious treat.

“The Vishneaster Egg, a play on words, was born from a desire to celebrate and to unite two of the world’s largest religions and two of their biggest festivals. Vishu and Easter may vary in terms of spiritual context, but both are celebrated in April with an exchange of gifts and with a feast. I wanted to add an inter-religious treat to our menu which British Hindus and British Christians can both enjoy,” he was quoted as saying.

The egg also contains gold coins and nuts that represent prosperity and feature in the Vishu festival. The egg took six weeks to perfect and is a mix of Indian spices, sea salt, mango and dark chocolate.  The egg costs £29.99 99 and goes on sale at India Dining. In 2013, the restaurant had created the spiciest Easter egg, which packed in a punch equivalent to 400 bottles of Tabasco sauce. It was so hot that diners had to wear protective gloves and sign a legal
disclaimer that they were over the age of 18 and of sound mind and judgement.
