Actor not to contest, aim is to defeat Congress

Hyderabad: It is now official. Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan, who launched his political outfit Jana Sena recently, will actively campaign for the BJP in the coming elections.

On Friday evening, Pawan Kalyan met BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad for 45 minutes.

Talking to reporters later, Pawan Kalyan said that he was very impressed with Mr Modi’s performance and had decided to campaign for him and the BJP in the coming polls. “Mr Modi should be the PM; I wish him all the best. If he becomes the PM, the problems of both Telangana and Seemandhra would be effectively addressed,” the actor said.

This development will have a positive impact on the likely alliance of the BJP and the Telugu Desam in Telangana and Seemandhra regions while adversely effecting the chances of the TRS and the Congress in Telangana and the YSR Congress in Seemandhra.

“I am not interested in contesting in the coming polls. I am interested in defeating the Congress,” he said, adding, “I have asked Mr Modi to develop both Telangana and Seemandhra regions on an equal footing based on the natural resources available there. The Congress did not do a proper exercise before dividing the state; it has damaged both the states and that is why I met Mr Modi. I believe he alone can set things right,” Pawan Kalyan said.
