Bring out your jackets and leg warmers, as the days get shorter and the nights get colder, with Bengaluru's temperatures dipping below 16°, it is that time of the year when you need to stock up on woollen wear as much as possible. With vivid neon colours taking up their place this season, there are also new types of buttoned up scarves, shrugs and hoodies which are available in the market.

Bengaluru's winters are quite chilly and travelling outdoors with the same dark brown sweaters or the old faithful black jacket might make you look boring. While shopping for expensive leather jackets might pinch your pocket, we bring you a affordable ideas to make your winters more bearable. Faizan Taher, who runs Eastern stores on commercial street claims to know the sentiments of Bengalureans in terms of winter clothing. He says, “We bring in our winter wear from Ludhiana and keep up with the changing trends. This season there are also some neon colours which make a bold style statement." Adding to that he says, “These hoodies come in an array of colours like neon green, yellow and red. They match any type of outfit and also make your clothing look layered when worn with ganjis or tshirts." These hoodies are priced at Rs 450.

Apart from these outlets, there are others who provide hand woven solutions for winter wear. A few Bengalureans, who are passionate about knitting give you customised options for your winter woes. Like Rima Mukherjee, who knits handmade woollen wear says that coloured scarves are in for the season. She claims, “Collegegoers are interested in scarves which have buttons and bold prints on them. With colourful flowers which can be woven into the scarf, they make quite an impact." These hand woven woollen scarves are priced at Rs 250 a piece.

The usual Pashmina shawls have also undergone a makeover and bring in the element of surprise. Priyanka Pillai, who loves these shawls says, “I prefer these over any other sweaters or warmers as they wrap you up and make you feel comfortable. It is comfortable winter wear in my opinion and they can also be used during warm days as well."

These shawls are priced between Rs 150 and that makes it affordable as well.
