Sheena Bora murder case: Yes I did it, says Indrani Mukerjea
Mumbai: Indrani Mukerjea confessed to her crime before the Khar police admitting that she was aware of her daughter Sheena Bora’s murder. A senior police official, on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Indrani confessed to her crime. Since her arrest last week, she had been claiming that Sheena is settled in the US. However, police sources also said this could be just another trick on Indrani’s part to get sent to judicial custody, adding that she is aware that the confession taken by the police would not stand before a court of law.
Lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani who will be defending Indrani Mukerjea said, “If the accused have confessed to their crimes as is being reported by the media, why doesn’t the police send them to judicial custody. Also, I can’t speak for my client as I have never been given a chance to meet her.”
In another development Siddharth Das, Sheena Bora’s biological father, was brought and questioned inside the Khar police station on Thursday night. His DNA samples have been taken and will soon be sent to the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory (DFSL). While the police claimed that Das is Indrani’s first husband, Das has maintained that he was never married to Indrani. He has, however, admitted that Sheena was his daughter.

Das was questioned for at least two hours at Khar police station. A Khar police team has also left to collect Sheena’s personal diary wherein she has mentioned that she hates her mother Indrani. Another official is in touch with Rahul and is also trying to contact educational institutions where Sheena studied to find a sample for her handwriting to match it with her personal dairy.
Adding another twist to the murder mystery of Sheena Bora, the Worli police and Khar police is said to have denied that Rahul Mukerjea had approached them in 2012 with a missing person’s complaint. A police source said, “We have recorded statements of 15 police officials, who were in the police stations at the time. They have maintained that there was not a single complaint regarding Sheena’s disappearance.”
Till this point the Worli and Khar police were facing flak for their negligence in handling Sheena’s missing person’s case. Rahul had earlier said that, within a week of Sheena’s disappearance he and Sheena’s brother Mikhail approached the Khar and Worli polie stations respectively to file a complaint.
A senior police officer is expected to file the inquiry report before joint commissioner, law and order, Deven Bharti within a couple of weeks . It was earlier reported that police commissioner Rakesh Maria was unhappy with the local police stations for not taking cognisance of the complaints. However, the officials alleging that Rahul never approached them has turned tables around once again.
