Nitin took over from John Glouster who was unfortunately injured during India’s tour to England in 2007 and since then has been ensuring the team is physically fit.

This apart, Nitin also overlook the rehabilitation centre at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The centre was later relocated to Sri Ramachandra Medical College campus in Chennai, following his advice.

Nitin remains one of the long serving members in cricket’s governing body and his departure will leave the board with no other option than to look for a replacement at the earliest. The former physio cited family reasons for his decision as has been on the road with the Indian team since the time he took over, which led to his resignation.

The resignation, however, has not been formally accepted yet by the BCCI but sources close to Nitin say that he has made up his mind.
