UN: Myanmar Military Responsible for Over 700 Civilian Deaths During Election Period
United Nations report attributes at least 702 civilian deaths between August and January to Myanmar's military amid ongoing conflict and election-related violence.

The UN has accused Myanmar's military of causing more than 700 civilian deaths during a six-month election period, citing verified reports of widespread violence.
Myanmar's military was responsible for more than 700 civilian deaths over the six-month election period in the country from last August through January, the United Nations said Monday.
"Credible sources reported to have verified a minimum of 702 civilian deaths across the country during the reporting period," a report by the UN rights office said, with spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani telling AFP that the deaths were all "attributable to the Myanmar military".
