Karachi: In a shocking incident, a Pakistani man stabbed his 16-year-old sister to death for using a mobile phone, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The incident took place at the victim's home in Karachi's Orangi town.

Identified as Hayat Khan, the accused attacked his sister Sumaira with a kitchen knife after he caught her using a mobile phone.

Khan was arrested to brutally stabbing his sister to death. “She was talking to someone at the entrance of the house, I asked her who was there and she replied why are you bothered it's none of your business, I am free to talk to anyone,” Khan was quoted as saying.

Defending himself, Khan said that he initially intended to threaten his sister, but in a fit of rage he stabbed her.

On the other hand, police officials said that they have registered a case against the accused and detained him as they did not want the family members to solve the matter outside the court.

The move came after the accused's father said that he forgave his son for whatever he did and what has already been done cannot be changed.

In most parts of rural Pakistan, even today a woman using a mobile phone, speaking with a non-male relative or going out late at night is seen as a taboo.
