Qamar Javed Bajwa vows to ensure free polls
Islamabad: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan Army along with other institutions will ensure secure and safe environment enabling people of the country to freely exercise their democratic right on July 25.
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the COAS visited Army Elections Support Centre, Rawalpindi. During the visit, he was given detailed briefing about plan for provision of assistance to Election Commission of Pakistan for free, fair and transparent conduct of General Elections.
General Bajwa said that Pakistan army shall assist the ECP strictly for peaceful and transparent elections 2018 within the bounds of given mandate and as per the ECP code of conduct.
Bajwa said working in synchronisation with other elements of security apparatus, all effo-rts be put in to ensure secure and safe environment enabling the people of Pakistan to freely exercise their democratic right. Earlier, a representative of General Headq-uarters said Pakistan Army had no connection with the Elections 2018.
