China ready to resolve disputes with neighbours through dialogues: Xi Jinping

More needs to be done as the country moves towards a goal of national rejuvenation,' Xi said.

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured neighbouring countries that Beijing is ready to resolve its disputes through dialogue, but not at the expense of its strategic interests.

Speaking at a party meeting on Thursday, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called the progress made in the country under his watch truly remarkable.

He told delegates attending the 19th Party Congress that more needs to be done as the country moves towards a goal of national rejuvenation.

Emphasising on China's relation with its neighbouring countries Xi said Beijing would look to deepen relations with its neighbours in accordance with mutual benefit.

He further pressed for resolving all disputes through dialogue and discussions while referring to traditional and non-traditional threats and to oppose terrorism in all its manifestations.

The Chinese Premier has vowed to make the People's Liberation Army (PLA) a world class military outfit.

His comments assume significance in the backdrop of the recent military standoff between India and China in the Doklam area.

China is also involved in a number of maritime disputes with neighbours over claims related to the South and East China Seas.
