Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League on Thursday alleged the government was seeking ‘ransom’ to allow former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s treatment abroad.

Speaking at a news conference in Lahore, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s politics was condemnable.

“The incumbent government (led by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf) wants to take ransom from Sharif family in the name of indemnity bond,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif, the opposition leader in National Assembly, said that the game of Prime Minister Khan and his political team against Nawaz Sharif depicted narrow mindedness.

The PML-N earlier held a meeting of senior party leaders to discuss the government’s conditional offer to allow Nawaz Sharif’s treatment abroad.

“Indemnity bond is being demanded from the person who was elected Pakistan’s PM for three times,” he said.

“And today when two high courts have granted him bail and said that he can avail treatment in Pakistan or abroad, the government is doing politics on the issue. Renowned lawyers of the country have criticised the [government] decision,” he added. PM Khan is befooling the nation, he said.
