Pakistan army deletes Dawn leak tweet
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday agreed to settle the Dawn leaks issue after the military withdrew its tweet which rejected the earlier notification of the government. General Bajwa held a meeting with Mr Sharif here to exchange views on Dawn leaks issue, officials said.
According to PM House spokesperson, “the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and both sides agreed to amicably resolve the matter.” Meanwhile, the army also emphasised its commitment to democracy in a country where the army has often seized power.
Army spokesman major general Asif Ghafoor told a news briefing there was no cause for concern. “We will continue to work with all government institutions to do what is best for the country” he said.
