Beijing: As the situation on the Korean Peninsula remains sensitive and complex, Chinese government on Tuesday mentioned that their working relentlessly to calm down the Peninsula nuclear issue.
In an official statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Geng Shuang said, “China being responsible member of the international community, it has been working relentlessly for and making contributions to the settlement of the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue as well as peace and stability of the Peninsula”.
Reiterating about the consequences of missile system deployment by US in South Korea, China urged relevant parties to keep calm, exercise restraint, and avoid any action that may provoke each other or even escalate the tension, Geng said.
When asked about that does china plays bigger role while handling the Koran Peninsula issue, the spokesperson said, “We call on all parties to join us in pushing for an early restart of negotiation and play their due roles for the settlement of the issue through dialogue and consultation”.
Understanding the military drill may adversely affect the strong hold of China in Northeast Asia region, Spokesperson in statement made it clear that "We are against the deployment of THAAD by the US and the ROK in the ROK, and will take resolute and necessary measures to protect our security interests".
“We have told the US and the ROK our position on multiple occasions through various channels. Both of them are very clear about where we stand”, spokesperson adds in statement.
