Pakistan army chief meets PM Sharif, discusses security matters

According to official sources, General Bajwa briefed the Prime Minister about the latest security situation along the Line of Control.

Islamabad: Pakistan's new army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday met Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and briefed him about the security situation along the Line of Control and measures being taken against extremism.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad, according to an official statement issued by the PM Office.

"Professional issues pertaining to national security were discussed during the meeting," it said.

According to official sources, General Bajwa briefed the Prime Minister about the latest security situation along the Line of Control (LoC). They also discussed the measures being taken against violent extremism in the country.

Later, the army chief also called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the President House. He briefed the president about the prevailing security in the country.
