No peace possible without resolving Kashmir issue: Sharif in Pak Parliament

Kashmir is burning like a volcano and a convoy of Hurriyat is on its way to achieve the objectives, Sharif said.

Islamabad: Pakistan does not want to go to war against India, but peace will not be achieved unless the Kashmir dispute is resolved, Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif said in his address to the country’s Parliament on Wednesday.

"We are against war but we would like to resolve all the issues with India including Kashmir. Peace cannot be achieved in the region without resolving the Kashmir dispute," Sharif said according to a report.

Stating that UN resolutions on Kashmir are still on the agenda of the UN Security Council, he called on the international community to take immediate steps for implementation of these resolutions.

“Kashmir is burning like a volcano and a convoy of Hurriyat is on its way to achieve the objectives", Sharif said, adding that the Indian security forces cannot suppress the right of Kashmiris to self-determination.

Sharif also named slain Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in his address to the joint session of Pakistan Parliament.

Sharif blamed India for ‘not letting any dialogue on Kashmir proceed’. "We have done everything to make India come to the dialogue table, but India did not let it happen," he said.

Sharif also said India blamed Pakistan "within hours" of the Uri army camp attack without conducting any investigation.

19 Indian soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked an army camp in Uri on September 18.
