Now, Nawaz Sharif talks of surgical strikes

This apparently came as a warning from Pakistan to India after the Thursday's skirmishes along the Line of Control (LoC).

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said his country was capable of carrying out surgical strikes across India.

This apparently came as a warning from Pakistan to India after the Thursday’s skirmishes along the Line of Control (LoC).

The premier said India should not have alleged Pakistan of backing Uri attack within hours after the strike without any investigation or evidence.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif branded Indian claims of carrying out surgical strike in early hours of Thursday morning after crossing mined territory false and cleared that Pakistan was capable of covertly landing anywhere in India and executing a pre-meditated operation.

Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan wanted peace to pursue its development agenda but every Pakistani was ready to defend the motherland if need be.

He stressed that Kashmir was an unfinished agenda of partition of the sub-continent and India’s continued brutalities in Kashmir and aggression were unacceptable.

Earlier before resumption of the meeting, Advisor on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz said India was using diversionary tactics in a bid to distract attention of the international community from its brutalities in Kashmir.

He said that Pakistan would confront India diplomatically but “our armed forces are also fully prepared to defend the country.”

“Support to the struggle of the Kashmiri people would remain priority of Pakistan,” he added. Defence minister Khawaja Mohammed Asif reiterated while addressing the meeting that Pakistan did not want escalation of tensions but it was ready to meet any eventuality.

He said that Pakistan would respond befittingly to any firing by India across the LoC. He said India was displaying irresponsible attitude.
