Elon Musk has indicated that X is preparing to significantly increase payouts for content creators, potentially surpassing those offered by YouTube, as part of a strategy to retain high-quality and original content on the platform.

One post suggested that higher payouts were essential, noting that only platforms that pay creators well would continue to host “authoritative content” as large language models increasingly absorb and reproduce online material.
Responding to the post, Musk wrote, “OK, let’s do it, but rigorously enforce no gaming of the system,” a remark widely interpreted as a signal of forthcoming changes to X’s monetisation framework.
Musk also tagged X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, who acknowledged the plan and said the company was “on it,” adding that a new system was being developed to eliminate nearly all fraud linked to creator payouts.
