Dubai: Mom forgets 18-month-old baby inside car while on phone, walks away
Dubai: Dubai police have registered a case of negligence against a woman for forgetting her 18-month-old baby inside her car, locking the car and walking away. They said that the woman was talking to a friend over the phone when the incident took place.
According to a report in the Khaleej Times, the police said that the woman walked into a building after parking her car.
They said that they were informed about the incident by a bystander who spotted the wailing baby inside the locked car. Police officials immediately rushed to the spot and forcefully opened the door within five minutes.
After searching for a while, the managed to contact the child's mother and hand over the baby to her.
Major Ahmed bu Roqaiba, the deputy director of General Department of Transport and Rescue of the Dubai Police said that the department often receives such complaints of children locked in cars. "In some cases, parents call the police and some times the public report it when they see children locked inside cars."
Further, he also warned that parents will bear the responsibility if such incidents lead to any accidents.
