No Mesarati? I'll get a Rolls Royce': British-Pak teen on car being towed away

He was stopped by police when he was driving through Kingston, as the police thought that the car was too costly for a learner.

London: No Maserati? That doesn’t seem to deter this 19-year-old student from his zest for flamboyance.

Hamza Sheikh, also a London-based property developer, was recently pulled up by the authorities for driving an uninsured ‘golden’ Maserati.

But ever so nonchalant, Hamza reportedly claimed that he would just ‘learn to drive in his Rolls Royce.’

According to reports, he was stopped by police when he was driving through Kingston, as the police thought that the car was too costly for a learner.

The police, who were observing the car for nearly an hour, later pulled him up on suspicion and towed away the vehicle for the lack of insurance.

The police tweeted an image of the gleaming gold automobile saying ‘#NoInsuranceNoCar’.

Despite being informed that he would face a minimum fine of 300 pounds (Rs 26,393), Hamza is unfazed. The offence could also cost him 6 points on his driving licence.

But Hamza, a Londoner from Mayfair of Paksitani origin, claims that the entire episode was a result of his ‘busy lifestyle’. “I have a busy lifestyle and running a property business while studying is not easy. I missed a letter from my insurance company requesting key information which I was unaware of, so they were unable to effectively update their records. This was the reason for the error,” the Telegraph reported, adding that he owned luxury cars amounting to £1million.

He added, “I have a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover. I am just waiting for my new gold Lamborghini to be delivered in the meantime. Since I was young I have been learning to drive in super cars — I’ve also learnt in a Porsche Panamera, so a Maserati is a piece of cake.”

Insinuating that the incident was also prompted by the policeman’s jealousy, he concluded, “I am a billionaire and when learning to drive in my Maserati I get a lot of jealousy, but if I have the money why not? Everything I have is because of my mother’s prayers and Allah. Jealousy is a mental cancer, please get treated."

The paper also reported that the car has been returned to Hamza, who resolved that such a situation would not be repeated.
