Kate Middleton recalls making 'special chutney' for Queen Elizabeth II

Kate described her plight when she had to decide what would she gift the Queen on their first Christmas together.

Kensington Palace, London: In her first ever solo interview for a candid documentary, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has revealed her special bond with Queen Elizabeth II.

Buying a gift for your in-laws can be a difficult task, especially when you have to buy it for the Queen. In the interview, Kate described her plight when she had to decide what would she gift the Queen on their first Christmas together.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Cambridge was quoted as saying, "I can remember being at Sandringham, for the first time, at Christmas. And I was worried what to give the Queen as her Christmas present. I was thinking, 'Gosh, what should I give her?'".

It was then Kate thought of following her grandmother's recipe handcrafting the gift to please her in-laws. She further said that she thought of preparing some delicacy for the Queen. Worried about how it would turn out to be, she decided to prepare 'chutney' that her grandmother used to make.

"I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table. I think such a simple gesture went such a long way for me and I've noticed since she's done that on lots of occasions and I think it just shows her thoughtfulness, really, and her care in looking after everybody," said Kate.

Kate's special bond with the Queen is not just limited to the palace, but whenever the pair has stepped outside, Queen has been a lot helpful, especially when Kate had to make public appearances, she revealed.

"She’s been very generous," she said, adding, "I feel she’s been a gentle guidance really for me."

"The most memorable engagement for me, I suppose, was an away-day to Leicester. I went without William so I was rather apprehensive about that," said Kate, adding that it was the Queen who made her comfortable and made sure that she was happy.
