Brussels: A 16-year-old Afghan immigrant was arrested on charges of raping a female staff in an asylum centre in Menen, close to the French border with Belgium.
According to a report in Daily Mail, the teenager, who is currently under custody in a youth detention centre, had been to a sensitisation camp on how to treat women just two weeks ago in Flanders.
He is reported to have followed the catering staff to the basement of the refugee centre, where he raped her.
The Red Cross, in a statement, said that this was the first time in 25 years that such an incident was being reported in any of its centre across Belgium.
The incident has added to the anti-immigrant chorus gaining momentum in Europe, especially after the Cologne sexual violence during the New Year, and the rape of a 10-year-old boy by an Iraqi immigrant in Austria.
