Sweden: Disabled woman asks to use toilet, gangraped by 6 asylum-seekers

Stockholm: A wheelchair-bound woman was gangraped by six men at a Swedish asylum centre in Gotland after she asked them if she could use their toilet.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the woman, in her 30s, was sharing a taxi home with a man after visiting the town of Visby, when she asked for the vehicle to be stopped so she could visit the toilet.

However, when she entered the toilet, she was brutally set upon by six men, said the report.

The assault sparked anger in the town and extra police were called to the island when an angry mob attacked the asylum centre with rocks. The victim's lawyer Staffan Freriksson said the assault began in the toilet and soon several men joined in.

The woman could not physically defend herself due to her handicap; she only kept saying 'No.'

However, once the ordeal was over, the victim was able to escape the building.

Six men aged in their 20s were arrested in the days that followed, but were later released.

A Swedish newspaper reported that the suspects were all asylum seekers and the assault took place at an asylum accommodation.

Large groups of people gathered in the town to protest the assault.
