London: British travel operator Thomas Cook on Thursday posted a widening loss on falling sales after recent terror attacks in Istanbul and Paris, but added the group saw "signs of recovery".
The group said its operating loss widened to 78 million ($113 million, 100 million euros) in the three months to the end of December, compared with 73 million a year earlier.
Total sales meanwhile recoiled 7.2 percent to around $1.41 billion in the reporting period.
"It is clear that the awful attacks in Paris and Istanbul impacted confidence, leading some customers to delay booking their holidays," chief executive Peter Fankhauser said in the statement.
"However we've seen clear signs of recovery in recent weeks: customers still have money in their pockets, and want to go on holiday.
"In this uncertain geopolitical environment, we are also seeing more of our customers choose a package holiday, valuing the greater security it provides."
