Calais: French authorities on Wednesday started moving out the remaining 1,500 unaccompanied children living near the razed "Jungle" migrant camp in Calais to reception centres around the country.
A first bus carrying 43 minors left the area around 8:30 am (0730 GMT), rapidly followed by a second one. More than 70 buses have been deployed for the operation.
The dismantlement of the camp that once housed up to 10,000 migrants aiming to head to Britain was completed on Monday night.
France has called on Britain, the intended final destination for most Jungle migrants, to do more. Since mid-October, Britain has taken in over 270 children and has promised to take in hundreds more.
French President Francois Hollande last week pledged that the youngsters would be dispersed around the country, with the hope that they would eventually be taken in by Britain....
