Maryam claims father Nawaz Sharif health \'deteriorating further\'

Ailing Nawaz is currently serving imprisonment in connection with graft cases.

Islamabad: Demanding Pakistan's government to "free" her father, Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday claimed that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's renal function is "deteriorating further" and "his kidney disease is on stage three".

Ailing Nawaz is currently serving imprisonment in connection with graft cases.

Maryam further state that the doctor who went to check upon Nawaz was made to "was not allowed in and sent back."

"MNS (Nawaz Sharif) had pain in the flanks. His kidney disease is at stage three and the doctor suspects the pain to be of renal origin. His Urea and Creatinine levels MUST be checked. His doctor who I sent to examine MNS was made to wait for two hrs outside the jail, was not allowed in and sent back," tweeted Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

She warned that she will hold a protest if jail authorities will not provide Nawaz with medical help until tomorrow.

"If his renal functions are not checked for any further deterioration & if his doctor & I are not allowed access to him, I will go and stand outside the jail tomorrow till the access is granted," she stated

However, a few minutes later, in another tweet, she said that she will not hold any protest because Nawaz has asked everyone to celebrate Pakistan Day.

"MNS has asked them to call off the protest/gathering on 23rd and wants all of us to celebrate Pakistan Day wherever we are. My request is only to grant access to his doctor and myself, so his renal tests can be done," she said.

Sharif was shifted to Jinnah Hospital on February 15 after he complained of fever, stomach ache, and headache. However, he was later moved to the jail after Islamabad High Court last week rejected his petition seeking bail on medical grounds.

Citing inadequate availability of medical facilities in jail, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members, in February, had requested the Punjab Assembly secretariat to grant permission to the three-time Prime Minister to go abroad for his medical treatment.
