Thailand: 3-year-old's forehead sliced open by ceiling fan as father lifts her up

The child has now returned to her home and recovering, Em said, adding that they won't play that game any more.

Rayong: A three-year-old toddler from Thailand was left with a gaping cut on her forehead, which was split open by a ceiling fan, when her father threw her in the air playfully.

According to Daily Mail, the impact of the accident was so strong that a blade of the fan that hit Oum's forehead, was left distorted. Oum’s father Em Phoeykiln immediately rushed her to a hospital, where doctors treated the four-inch wound on her forehead.

"I was just playing with her at home like we do all the time. Somehow when I was throwing Oum up in the air, her head hit the fan. I wasn't letting go of her and she was still in my hands. But she just hit the fan,” 25-year-old Em said.

Oum has now returned to her home and recovering, Em said, adding that they won’t play that game any more.

“Oum is better now and we're grateful to the doctors and nurses that helped her. She has been so strong and we're proud of her. Now she's smiling again, but we won't be playing that game any more,” Em said.

The operation that saved the live of Oum cost 70,000 baht (£1,550) and to pay the huge sum, Em, a driver, and his wife are selling some of their assets.
