Indian woman working with an international NGO abducted in Kabul

Afghan authorities are checking whether the Pakistan-backed Taliban is directly involved in the abduction of Judith D'Souza.

New Delhi: An Indian woman working for an international NGO was kidnapped by suspected militants from right outside her office in the heart of Kabul on Thursday and efforts were being made to secure her release.

Kolkata’s Judith D’Souza, 40, was abducted from the Afghan capital’s Taimani area along with two other persons on Thursday. A senior technical adviser with the Aga Khan Foun-dation, Judith was sche-duled to return to India next week. External affairs minister Sush-ma Swaraj described Judith as “India’s daughter” and said the government was “doing everything to rescue her.”
