North Korean missile landed on its own town
London: A North Korean missile appears to have accidentally hit one of its own cities, according to a report in The Diplomat.
Satellite images showed that the “failed test launch” struck the town of Tokchon, north of Pyongyang, with population of 200,000,” the Daily Mail quoted a US government official as saying.The Hwasong KN-17 medium-range rocket was fired from Pukchang Airfield in South Pyongan Province, 40 miles north of Pyongyang on April 28 last year.
It failed shortly after take-off, The Diplomat reported, before crashing down in the Chongsin-dong area of Tokchon. It apparently damaged what looked like an agricultural or industrial building.
Satellite images from May 2017 showed damage caused by a failed test launch that struck the North Korean city of Tokchon weeks earlier in April, according to the official.The official told the Diplomat that the missile’s flight lasted a minute before suffering engine malfunction crashed after travelling 40 km.
