Trump Says Tariff Revenue Nears $600 Billion, US Stronger Than Ever

Reiterating his support for tariffs, Trump linked them to both economic strength and national security

Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump has once again highlighted the revenue generated through tariffs imposed by his administration after his return to the White House, claiming collections will soon exceed USD 600 billion.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “We have taken in, and will soon be receiving, more than 600 Billion Dollars in Tariffs,” while accusing the media of deliberately ignoring the issue.

Criticising what he described as biased reporting, Trump said the “Fake News Media” was refusing to cover the matter to influence an upcoming US Supreme Court decision on tariffs, which he called one of the most important rulings in the country’s history.

Reiterating his support for tariffs, Trump linked them to both economic strength and national security, saying they have made the US “financially, and from a national security standpoint, far stronger and more respected than ever before.”

Trump has repeatedly criticised the legal challenge to his tariff regime, warning that an adverse Supreme Court ruling could pose the “biggest threat in history” to US national security and leave the country “financially defenseless.”

The tariff measures are currently under review by the US Supreme Court, which is examining whether the President exceeded his authority. The last hearing took place in November, with a final ruling expected in 2026.

India is among the countries facing steep US tariffs. Currently, Indian exports are subject to a 50 per cent tariff, with half linked to India’s purchase of Russian crude.

Referring to discussions with Indian leadership, Trump said Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought to maintain good relations, warning that higher tariffs could be imposed quickly and would be “very bad” for India.

Trump made these remarks while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during his return flight from Florida to Washington, DC.
