US Republicans failed in their latest effort to dismantle Obamacare, leaving the party shocked and in disarray and delivering a major setback to Donald Trump’s dream of repealing his predecessor’s health reforms.

The vote came down to the wire, with the decisive moment resting with Senator John McCain, recently diagnosed with brian cancer, who sided with two Republicans in opposing the legislation.

Mr McCain’s vote came as a stunning blow to the Senate Republicans and the President. “3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down. As I said from the beginning, let ObamaCare implode, then deal. Watch!” Mr Trump tweeted.
