In new video, North Korea blows up White House

Washington, Seoul warn of swift punitive measures'.

US and South Korea on Thursday warned North Korea that they would take “swift punitive measures” in the event of more provocation as Pyongyang released a propaganda video showing the White House being destroyed in a missile attack.

The new video, which also showed an aircraft carrier being hit, was released after the US military said a navy strike group led by the supercarrier USS Carl Vinson was within “striking distance” of North Korea, the Daily Telegraph reported.

During the 2.5-minute clip beach landings, US bombers and an American fleet of warships are all shown in the cross-hairs. The video ends with a mock up of a rocket strike obliterating the White House, according to the Daily Mail.

The North also vowed that it would “never stop” carrying out tests of its military hardware, raising concerns that it was preparing a possible act which could provoke the United States.

This came after a top US military commander in the Pacific was quoted as saying that President Donald Trump’s administration wanted to bring Kim Jong-un “to his senses”.

Earlier, in a joint statement by the US secretary of state Rex Tillerson, secretary of defence James Mattis, and director of national intelligence Dan Coats, had said that Mr Trump would pressure Pyongyang “by tightening economic sanctions and pursuing diplomatic measures with our allies and regional partners” — an approach that has been adopted by the past three US administrations.
