Professor who correctly predicted most US elections says Trump will win
New York: A professor from New York's SUNY Stony Brook University who claimed that he had developed a model that predicted accurate US presidential election results, has said that Republican candidate Donald Trump will win the 2016 elections.
According to a report in the Independent, Professor Helmut Norpoth said that Trump's chances of winning elections are more as he was the strongest candidate in the primaries.
Norpoth said that he his model had accurately predicted every single election since 1912 -- except the 2000 election in which he predicted that Democratic candidate Al Gore would win. However, George Bush emerged as the winner following more votes in the Electoral College.
According to Norpoth's model, those candidates that perform well in their primaries have more chances of winning the presidency.
“I think he was the strongest candidate in the primaries and that he will prevail," Norpoth said referring to Trump.
"The model predicted a Trump win in February and nothing has changed since then. Whatever happens in the real world doesn’t affect the model," he added.
However, Norpoth's model does not take into account the changing political landscape.
Recently, Trump's candidature has received a major setback with many women stepping forward and accusing him of sexual harassment.
