Nuke power plant warning accidentally sent to TVs

The warning flashed on TV screens. 911 hotlines were flooded with thousands of calls following the warning.

New Jersey residents were watching the TV on Tuesday when a frightening “nuclear power plant warning” popped up on their screens. The warning flashed on their screens when the Emergency Alert System was accidentally activated, media reports said. This led to thousands of 911 calls. Some people went on social media or contacted authorities after seeing a message on their TVs that stated, “A civil authority has issued a nuclear power plant warning” for several counties, CBS reported.

New Jersey’s emergency management office sent out a tweet later reading,” You may have seen this message on your TV tonight. There is no emergency. This message went out in error.”
