Video: Disney employee fends off alligator just feet away from Splash Mountain ride

The animal tries to crawl back again and again to the edge of the water where enthusiastic visitors enjoy a splashy ride.

United States: Barely a week after an alligator dragged a small boy into a lagoon at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, a new shocking video has emerged online in which an employee working at Disney can be seen fending off an alligator just a feet away from the famous Mountain Splash ride with guests around.

The video footage, uploaded on YouTube, shows a man trying to poke the alligator with a long stick in a bid to force him back into the water. However, the animal seems to be in a different mood and tries to crawl back again and again to the edge of the water where the enthusiastic visitors enjoy a splashy ride.

On June 15, a two-year-old boy from the US state of Nebraska was holidaying at the Disney World with his family when he was dragged into the waters by an alligator.

Despite several efforts by his father to save him, the minor was snatched off and his dead body was found about 16 hours later. Although Disney had put up ‘no swimming’ signboards at the beach, there were no warnings about ‘alligators’, claimed the victim’s parents.

Wildlife officials have termed the attacked as a rare phenomenon in a state which has alligator population of about one million.
