Father's comments were inappropriate, offensive: Trump's daughter

Ivanka also said that media often refers to her as Trump's 'surrogate wife' which was a \"deeply offensive\" thing to say.

Washington: Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, on Tuesday, said that his comments on inappropriately touching and groping women ‘was clearly inappropriate and offensive’.

Speaking on the issue for the first time, Ivanka Trump told CNN, “My father's comments were clearly inappropriate and offensive and I'm glad that he acknowledged this fact with an immediate apology to my family and the American people.”

She also said that her ‘greatest comfort’ was that she knows her father while ‘most of the people who write about him don't’ giving her the ability to ‘shrug off’ reports she knows are wrong.

She also hit out at media reports which refer to her as Trump's 'surrogate wife' and said that it was a "deeply offensive" thing to say.

Defending her husband, Melania Trump, earlier on Monday said that she was surprised as she had never heard her husband use that kind of language.

She also described the lewd comments made by the Republican presidential nominee as "boy talk,” and said he was led on - like, egged on - from the host to say dirty and bad stuff in the conversation with "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush.

Meanwhile, NBC said on Monday that Bush was leaving the "Today" show, following his role in the taped conversation with Donald Trump.

The tape in which Trump bragged about sexually aggressive behaviour toward women was published by The Washington Post and NBC on October 8. Several women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct since then.
