Brazil: 25-year-old kills pregnant teen, cuts her open to take out foetus

Sao Paulo: Marian Siqueira, 25, surrendered herself to the police on Friday after nearly 48 hours of manhunt for killing an eight months-pregnant teenager.

She was arrested after walking into a prison in Sao Paulo with her mother. In the police station, she admitted that she stabbed 15-year-old Valissia Fernandes de Jesus to death and cut open her womb to take out the foetus.

Marian was said to be faking her own pregnancy for months.

She disappeared after her husband found Mateus returned home and Valissia’s body in a barrel in their back garden.

He also found the unborn child’s body in the bathtub.

She reportedly confessed to her husband that she had stabbed her victim during a fight. She also claimed that foetus was hers and that she had suffered a miscarriage.

Police said that she had confessed to the crime after being arrested. Around 100 vigilante locals tried to storm the police station where Marian was questioned.

Siqueria who had managed to convince friends she was pregnant told the police that she killed the victim during a fight after she broke a promise to give her the child as he was born.

Police chief Mauricio Nucci said, “She said she had been friends with Valissia for around two years and they had a disagreement and she ended up stabbing her friend.”

She is expected to be in custody while the case will be investigated as a homicide and foetal abduction.

Police said the killing is believed to be a premeditated crime.
