US teen who raped toddler and filmed sex act, walks free after he's spared jail
Iowa: An Iowa teenager who sexually abused a toddler and live streamed the act on camera, walked free after he was spared jail, despite being found guilty of the crime.
According to a report in the Independent, the teenager identified as Kraigen Grooms, pleaded guilty to raping a minor girl in April 2013. His accomplice had filmed the sex act and uploaded it on the internet.
Grooms was arrested after police found indecent material on his computer as a part of international child pornography investigation. They also found a video clip of the rape involving the minor victim.
Investigators said that the rape was premeditated by Grooms and claimed the he had also planned a similar attack on a three-year-old girl. However, his plan could not succeed as he was caught by police.
The accused was charged with second-degree assault and sexual abuse that allows a person to be jailed for up to 25 years.
Since the accused was himself a minor, he was remanded in custody for a period of two years and later put in a juvenile detention centre until he pleaded guilty to the crime.
Grooms was awarded with a 10-year suspended sentence along with a five-year supervised release. He will also be registered on sex offenders list for life, and if violated, will face up to 10 years in prison.
