Donald Trump may be impeached; pence president
New York: A US-based professor, who was among the few prognosticators who had predicted Donald Trump’s victory, has made another stunning prediction that he will be eventually impeached by a Republican Congress and replaced by a leader who can be trusted and controlled.
Professor Allan Lichtman has predicted that if elected, Mr Trump (70) would eventually be impeached by a Republican Congress that would prefer a President like Mike Pence someone whom establishment Republicans know and trust, the Washington Post reported.
“I’m going to make another prediction. This one is not based on a system; it’s just my gut. They don’t want Trump as president, because they can’t control him. He’s unpredictable. They’d love to have Pence an absolutely down-the-line, conservative, controllable Republican,” he said.
Meanwhile, an online petition that has been set up to demand that the Electoral College vote in favour of Hillary Clinton has gathered three million signatures, the Express .co.uk reported.
The Electoral college will have to cast their votes to cement Mr Trump’s presidency. It is set to meet on December 19. Should an elector vote against the will of the people — i.e. go ‘faithless’ — then it could have a huge sway on who becomes the next US leader.
The petition created by Elijah Berg states: “Mr Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic.”
