Malala Yousafzai becomes Canadian, makes witty remarks about PM Trudeau's tattoos

She praised Trudeau for his stance on letting refugees into the country and giving women equal importance in the development strategy.

Ottawa: Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai’s was given an honourary Canadian citizenship by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday and made everyone in the Canadian Parliament laugh at her witty remark on Trudeau’s tattoos during her speech.

According to a report in NDTV, the Nobel laureate said, “They say that he's the second-youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history. He does yoga. He has tattoos. And a lot more”, invoking cheer from the audience.

Malala also described people’s reaction when they heard she would be meeting him. She said people wanted to know how he looked and that they seemed excited about her meeting. She joked about them being less concerned with her Canadian honorary citizenship.

Her address was not just witty but inspiring too. It touched upon important subjects like the importance of educating women and the refugee crisis.

Malala was also quoted as saying, “I want to thank Canada for its passion for girls' education, for its passion for humanity, for refugees, and for standing up for women's rights, and for peace.”

She was all praise for Trudeau for his stand on letting refugees into the country and giving women equal importance in the development strategy.

She also shared a message for children all over the world, saying that they too could be young leaders like Prime Minister Trudeau.
