Mother shocked to find live stream of daughters' bedroom online

She said experts told her that hackers would have found access to the camera in her daughters' bedroom by hacking into their IP address.

Texas: A mother of three in Houston in United States’ Texas was terrified to find out that privacy of her two daughters was violated. Someone had hacked into the security cameras of her daughters’ bedroom and was streaming the feeds online.

According to ABC News, a live stream of the bedroom of her two 8-year-old daughters was available online on an app. "We have security cameras to protect them. I feel like I've failed. ... People are watching my kids in their home, dressing, sleeping, playing,” Jennifer said.

She learnt about this through a friend, who saw a post about it on a Facebook group – Houston New Moms. The post was written and shared by one Oregon-based Shelby Ivie, who was trying to reach out to the parents of the two girls to alert them. Ivie saw the video a week ago when she and her son were browsing the internet for satellite images of Earth and installed the Live Camera Viewer app. "I was in tears, thinking of the violation [Jennifer] must feel," Ivie said.

Jennifer later contacted Ivie for information about the video. "It had been running since July 27, maybe even longer," she said. "They had [571] likes," she said about the live stream. "So I know for a fact 571 people have been staring at my kids, probably more."

Jennifer said experts have told her that hackers would have found access to the camera in her daughters’ bedroom by hacking into their IP address.

She has now barred her children from accessing internet. She also warned other parents about the unprotected servers.
