Johnson, a 25-year-old resident of the Dallas area, was identified as the suspect killed after tense negotiations following the shooting of five officers during Black protests in Dallas. Johnson cited the “Black Lives Matter” anti-police-violence movement, but also said he was not part of a larger organisation, said Dallas Police Chief David Brown. A Twitter account describing itself as representing the Black Lives Matter movement sent the message: “Black Lives Matter advocates dignity, justice and freedom. Not murder.”
